Extended Lifespan Point Cost

by Nana Yaw Ofori [nofori@pop3.utoledo.edu]

I did a number of simulations on life-length at different tech levels. (I write wierd TI-85 programs) What I found out was that (at least at TL3) Joe Average lives to about 60-ish years, and the Longevity Advantage generally only doubles that lifetime, capping out at 110-120 years.

Me, I'll probably wind up going with...

  1. 1.5 to 3 times the Standard Lifespan (5 points)
  2. 3-10 times the Standard Lifespan (10 points)
  3. Anything longer than 10 times standard lifespan (15 points)
Maturation time is completely unaffected, and usually doesn't make much of a difference, unless the character has the Youth disad, in which case, I'd take off the 3 levels cap for Humans, and rescale it so that it's -40 points/Age of Maturity per year below that age.
